Storm Named to Second Team, Aughinbaugh Earns Third Team Recognition for a Third Straight Year

NFCA Release

Louisville, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its Division I All-Region teams on Thursday, comprised of 392 student-athletes from 163 programs. Fordham, a member of the Mid-Atlantic region, saw two players represent the program - Senior Jordy Storm was named to the Second Team, while Madie Aughinbaugh earned Third Team recognition at the pitcher/utility spot for a third consecutive year.

"Aughie and Jordy were consistent for us all season long and so I'm happy that their hard work and on-field success were recognized by other coaches in our Mid-Atlantic region." Head coach Melissa Inouye said.

Storm enjoyed a career year at the plate for the Rams, garnering First Team All-Conference honors, by slashing .357/.421/.636 with career-best numbers across the board, including 10 home runs, 55 hits, 36 RBIs, and 35 runs across 49 appearances and 46 starts. The Walla Walla, Wash. native was scorching hot in conference play, leading the Rams with a .410 average and .782 slugging percentage, and topping the Atlantic 10 with 32 hits, 22 runs scored, and seven home runs. She kept it up at the A-10 Championship, batting .333 and driving in five runs, tied for second-most in the tournament, and being named to the All-Championship squad as a result.

Aughinbaugh earns Third Team honors after another brilliant two-way season. One of three team captains, the junior leads the team at the plate and in the circle, recording team-highs of a .364 average, 63 hits, and 10 doubles. Aughinbaugh has also slugged five home runs and is second on the squad with 40 RBIs. In the circle, the Port Tobacco, Md. native has a 17-12 record and 2.54 ERA over 198.1 innings with 23 cokmplete games over 36 appearances and 31 starts. She has struck out 139. As usual, she turned her game up a notch in conference play with an 11-2 record and 1.77 ERA over 15 starts and 91.0 frames. She was named the A-10 Championship Most Outstanding Player for a second straight year after leading all six teams in batting and pitching stats – hitting .692 over 13 at-bats with a tournament-high nine hits, including one home run and one double, with five runs batted in and a stolen base, and starting all four contests and notching a 3-1 record and 2.07 ERA over 27.0 innings, going the distance in all four.

The Rams are in the NCAA Seattle Regional and will play #2/2 Washington on Friday at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN3. They were given the four seed in a group also consisting of Seattle and Mississippi State.
