Track & Field Finishes Stay at Colonial Relays

Women Set School Record in the 4x1500 Relay

Williamsburg, Va. – (April 6, 2019) – The Fordham track & field team finished up competition at the 54th annual Colonial Relays, hosted by the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.  The Rams had a great finish on Saturday, placing 11th in the women's competition and 17th in the men's competition.
 
The women and men competed in four relays each on Saturday, but did have a few individuals have their spotlight event.  In the 800 meters, Aidan Moroz placed eighth in the women's event in an ECAC qualifying time of 2:11.55, while Louis Santelli took 11th in the men's event in 1:54.48.  Lastly, Nikolas Reardon placed ninth in the men's triple jump event with a mark of 45' 3 ½".
 
Of the relays, the highlights came from the women's sprint medley relay and 4x1500 relay.  The sprint medley relay team of Mary Kate Kenny, Kathryn Kelly, Dominique Valentine, and Dana Beggins won their event in 4:06.56.  Then in the 4x1500 relay, the team of Laurel Fisher, Katarzyna Krzyzanowski, Kate McCormack, and Angelina Grebe, set a school record by placing third in a time of 18:52.85.
 
Fordham also scored eighth in the women's distance medley relay, as Sydney Snow, Gabrielle Schreib, Leah Hickey and Bridget Alex posted a time of 12:13.95.  The last relay for the women was the 4x400, where Valentine, Schreib, Hickey and Helen Connolly finished 16th in 4:02.60.
 
On the men's side, Fordham scored in three of four relays.  The 4x1500 team of Brian Cook, Christopher Strzelinski, Sean Sullivan, and Louis Santelli placed sixth in 16:00.31, while the distance medley relay team of Will Whelan, Chase Krug, Jeremiah, LaDuca, and Nicholas Reafski took seventh in 10:15.58.  Then the sprint medley relay of Jerad Benn, Kyle Mack, Jack Keegan, and Sean Phillips finished ninth in 3:33.66.  The last relay was the 4x400, where Mack, Benn, Keegan, and Krug were 15th in 3:20.87.
 
The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on April 12-13 at the 2019 Metropolitan Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Rutgers University.
