Stony Brook, N.Y. – (March 23, 2019) – While half the team was in Virginia, the other half of the Fordham track & field team was out on Long Island, competing in the Stony Brook Snow Flake Spring Opener.
Highlighting the day for Fordham were event wins by
Gabrielle Schreib and
Alec Wargo. Schreib took first place in the 400 meter hurdles event in a time of 1:07.06, while Wargo took the top spot in the shot put (36' 2 ¼") and discus throw (110' 0") events.
Among the other competitors on Saturday,
Antony Misko was second in the 600 meter run in 1:24.62, while
Sean Phillips was fifth in that event in 1:26.71. In the women's 600 meters,
Helen Connolly was seventh overall in 1:40.20 with
Angelica Piccini taking ninth in 1:45.90.

The women's 3,000 meter run saw
Germaine Harbaugh finish sixth overall in 11:07.61, while
Peri Chase took fifth in the 100 meter hurdles in 17.17 seconds.
In the relays, the women's 4x100 relay of
Kelley Abunaw,
Kaley Bell,
Mary Kate Caucci, and
Jade Dyer-Kennedy were fourth overall in 54.26 seconds, while the men's sprint medley relay team of
Andre Guthrie, Jr.,
Joseph Clay,
Jack O'Connell, and Misko were fifth in 3:48.27.
Over in the field events, the Rams also had some strong showings, as
Casey Metzler was fourth in the women's discus throw (73' 5") and fifth in the women's shot put (29' 7 ½"), with Abunaw was fifth in the long jump (15' 10 ½"). On the men's side,
John Regan was second in both the shot put (35' 3") and discus throw (95' 9").
The Rams are next in action on March 29th at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.
