Track & Field Starts Action at ECAC/IC4A Championship

Ryan Kutch Places Fourth in the 5,000 Meters; Kathryn Kelly Sets School Record in the 200 Meter Dash

Boston, Mass. – (March 2, 2019) – Members of the Fordham track & field team are up in Boston, Massachusetts for the final meet of the indoor season, the 2019 ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championship, held at Boston University's Tennis & Track Center.
 
In all, the Rams competed in 11 events on Saturday, scoring in one, and qualifying for four finals on Sunday.
 
The lone scorer on Saturday was junior Ryan Kutch, as he placed fourth overall in the 5,000 meter run in a season-best time of 14:13.04.
 
Fordham almost had a second scorer over in the field events, as Nikolas Reardon was ninth in the long jump with a mark of 22' 6 ¼".

In preliminary races, Kathryn Kelly, Aidan Moroz, Arthur Gooden Jr., and the men's 4x800 relay all qualified for Sunday finals.  Kelly qualified fourth in the women's 200 meter dash, clocking in with a school record time of 24.25 seconds, breaking teammate Mary Kate Kenny's record, set earlier this year.
 
Moroz was one of two runners in the women's 500 meter run, as she qualified fifth in a season-best time of 1:14.32.  Sarinnagh Budris also competed in the 500 meters, placing 19th in 1:16.42.  In the men's 500 meters, Gooden had his best run of the season, clocking in at 1:03.71, which qualified third for the Sunday final.
 
The last Sunday qualifier was the men's 4x800 relay team of Zalen Nelson, Christopher Strzelinski, Gooden, and Sean Sullivan, which qualified sixth in 7:37.38.
 
Aside from these performances, Fordham was represented in four other events.  Kate McCormack was 12th in the women's 1,000 meters (2:55.23), while Sean Sullivan was 14th in the men's 1,000 meters (2:29.99).  Laurel Fisher took 23rd in the women's mile run (4:58.72) with Kelly taking 23rd in the women's long jump (17' 3 ¼").
 
The Rams wrap up the championship on Sunday with the four qualifiers and participants in the 3,000 meters, men's triple jump, and the women's distance medley relay.
