Baltimore, Md./Annapolis, Md. – (November 8, 2019) – After a 3-0 start to their season, the Fordham squash team is again on the road this weekend, taking part in the Navy Round Robin in Maryland.
Before taking on host Navy, the Rams defeated Johns Hopkins, 9-0, at the Meadow Mill Club in Baltimore, Maryland.
Fordham took it to the Bluejays, winning eight of the nine slotted matches in three games, led by
William Douglass defeating William Daniel at the top position, 11-7, 11-2, and 11-2.
Griffin Fitzgerald defeated Preston Coffin at third position, 11-8, 11-5, and 11-8, with
Winthrop Reed IV taking down Dokyung Yang, 11-6, 11-1, and 11-7 at the #4 slot.
Tommy White (#5),
Jacob Bennett (#6),
Justin Deckoff (#7),
Dylan Panichello (#8), and
Caleb Schumacher (#9) also posted three game victories on Friday.
Patrick Rodden was the lone Ram to be taken to four games, as he won 11-2, 11-5, 7-11, and 11-4 at second position over Michael Tritsch.
The Rams then took on Navy to open the round robin event, falling by a 9-0 count.
All nine matches were 3-0 wins for the Midshipmen with the best effort by the Rams coming at the seventh position, as Deckoff fell to Thomas Rankin, 11-7, 11-7, and 11-7.
The Rams continue play at the Navy Round Robin on Saturday, November 9
th, as Fordham takes on Haverford at noon, Boston University at 2:30 PM, and Lehigh at 5:00 PM.
