Bronx, N.Y. – (November 20, 2019) - The CWPA's Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) weekly awards were released on Wednesday with Fordham sophomore Dimitris Koukias (Athens, Greece) earning Offensive Player of the Week honors and sophomore goalie Bailey O'Mara (Darien, Conn.) taking Defensive Player of the Week honors.  This is Koukias' second award of the year, while it is the fifth for O'Mara.
 
Koukias netted eight goals over three games as the Rams went 2-1 on the week to improve to 23-6 on the season.  He netted a pair of markers in a win over St. Francis Brooklyn, while scoring twice with a steal in a loss to #15 Bucknell.  He then capped his week with four goals and an assist in a win over La Salle, which helped Fordham clinch the #2 seed at this week's MAWPC Championship.
 
O'Mara recorded 37 saves on the week to go with six steals in three contests.  He started with 11 saves, a steal, and a penalty block in a win over St. Francis Brooklyn.  Then on Saturday, he broke single season record for saves in a season at 328, passing Noah Lebeau record of 311 in 2014.  He started with ten saves and two steals against #15 Bucknell, and then capped his day with 16 saves, three steals and an assist in a win over LaSalle.
 
The 16th-ranked Fordham Rams (23-6) now head to the MAWPC Championship, which will be held at Bucknell University from November 22-24.  The Rams will face Gannon in the opening round at 6:00 PM on Friday.
