Bronx, N.Y. – (November 16, 2019) – After two days of round robin play, the Fordham squash team came away with two out of three wins, improving to 9-3 on the season.
On Friday, Fordham knocked off Stanford by a 9-0 count, led by a top position win by
William Douglass over Krtin Nithiyanandam, 11-6, 11-2, 11-4, while
Patrick Rodden finished off Chris Peisch in five games at second position 7-11, 11-2, 11-3, 10-12, and 11-5.
Every other match would go Fordham's way in three games with
Griffin Fitzgerald,
Winthrop Reed IV,
Tommy White,
Jacob Bennett,
Justin George,
Justin Deckoff, and
Dylan Panichello each winning their match.
On Saturday, the Rams were upended by Cal, 8-1.
The lone point came from Douglass at the top slot, defeating fellow #1 Charlie Love, 11-9, 6-11, 11-7, 5-11, and 11-8.
Fordham though bounced back in match two on Saturday, toppling Northeastern, 7-2.
Rodden and Fitzgerald had the top of the ladder wins at second and third position respectively. Rodden defeated Alexander Jafry, 11-6, 11-7, 11-7, while Fitzgerald took down Alexander Swenson, 11-6, 2-11, 9-11, 14-12, and 11-3.
White, Bennett, George, Deckoff and Panichello rounded out the victories at the fifth through ninth positions.
Then on Sunday, the Rams fell by a 9-0 score to Columbia.
The Fordham squash team will next be in action on November 23-24 hosting their second round robin with Washington University of St. Louis, Bard College, and NYU.
