Buffalo, N.Y. – The Fordham women's cross country team ventured up to snowy Buffalo on Friday where they competed in the 2019 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship, placing 32nd in the team competition.
Alexandra Thomas was the top Fordham runner, placing 147th.
Over 11 inches of snowfall hit western New York state on Monday and Tuesday, with the nearly nine inches of snow on Monday alone breaking a 77-year-old record for accumulation on Nov. 11. Because of the storm, the NCAA moved the cross country races away from Audubon Golf Course and onto a road course.
Harvard won the team title with 92 points, followed by Cornell (126), Boston College (133), Columbia (160), and Syracuse (203).
Thomas covered the 6K course in a time of 22:06.9. She was followed by
Taylor Mascetta, who placed 169th in 22:24.4;
Katarzyna Krzyzanowski, who took 183rd in 22:41.1;
Bridget Alex, who was 188th in 22:45.5; and
Sydney Snow, who placed 214th in 23:12.3.
Also running for the Rams were
Nicoleta Papavasilakis (229 – 23:49.5) and
