Bronx, N.Y. - The CWPA's Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) weekly awards were released on Tuesday with Fordham sophomore goalie
Bailey O'Mara (Darien, Conn. / Darien) taking Defensive Player of the Week honors. This is O'Mara's fourth weekly award of 2019.
O'Mara helped the Rams to a 4-0 record on the week, including three important conference victories. He totaled 65 saves, nine steals, and two penalty blocks over those four matches, which came against Iona, #19 George Washington, Navy, and Johns Hopkins.
O'Mara started with nine saves in the Rams' Judge Cup win over Iona on Wednesday, and then tied a career-high with 17 saves in a win over #19 George Washington to go with a career-best six steals on Saturday. Later on Saturday, he broke his career-high with 18 saves in a win at Navy to go with three steals, two penalty blocks, and an assist. He capped the weekend by breaking that one-day career-high with 21 stops at Johns Hopkins, becoming only the third Fordham goalie to record 20 or more saves in a game.
The 16th-ranked Fordham Rams (21-5) are back in action on Tuesday, November 12
th, as the team hosts St. Francis Brooklyn at 7:30 PM at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatics Center.
