Derby, Conn. – The Fordham women's rowing squad opened it 2019-2020 season on Saturday at the Head of the Housatonic where the novice 8 won gold.
 
The Fordham collegiate novice 8 easily won the race, beating runner-up Wellesley to the line by over a minute. The Rams finished in 17:18.9 to Wellesley's 18:29.0.
 
The Rams entered two boats in the collegiate varsity 8 event with the A shell placing 18th in 15:42.3, over three seconds ahead of A-10 opponent UMass, while the B shell placed 27th in 16:39.4.
 
In the women's collegiate 4, Fordham also had two entries with the A shell placing tenth in 17:56.9 and the B shell taking 13th in 19:55.0.
 
The Rams return to action on October 19 and 20 as they compete at the Head of the Charles in Cambridge, Mass.
