New Rochelle, N.Y. – (January 23, 2019) – The Fordham swimming & diving team had its final road meet of the season prior to the Atlantic 10 Championship on Wednesday night, as the Rams swept the dual meet from the Iona Gaels in New Rochelle, N.Y. The Fordham women posted a 199-85 win over the Gaels, while the men's squad edged the Gaels for 150-144 win.
The women's team was led by
Caitlin McNary and
Natalie Ortof, who each won two events on the night. McNary took first in the 100 (53.14) and 200 (1:53.54) freestyle events, while Ortof swept the diving events with scores of 225.00 (1M) and 229.80 (3M).
Michelle Martin also had a good night in the pool winning the 100 butterfly event in 57.64 seconds, while also being a part of two winning relays. She joined with
Milly Furneaux,
Tara Brunner, and
Theresa Mullen to win the 200 medley relay in 1:48.11, while in the 200 freestyle relay, she won with
Kiara Norris,
Noelle Theodoulou, and Brunner in 1:37.13.
In addition to the relay wins, Furneaux and Norris also won individual events in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.33) and the 50 freestyle (24.73), respectively.
Other event winners included
Bayley Frierson in the 1000 freestyle (10:33.77),
Naima Mackrel in the 200 backstroke (2:11.84),
Amie Ko in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.10),
Paulina Watson in the 500 freestyle (5:11.63), and
Kysha Marie Altura in the 200 IM (2:12.52).

In the men's competition, Fordham was led by
Bryce Bollesen who won two individual events and one relay. He won the 50 (21.34) and 100 (47.78) freestyle events, while closing out the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay, joining
Travis Monahan,
A.J. Frakes, and
Auston Ramsay, for a first place time of 1:25.74.
In addition to being a part of the winning 200 freestyle relay, Monahan also had an individual win in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 59.24. He was joined in the event win column by
Danny McGowan in the 200 freestyle (1:45.33),
Greg Lombana in the 200 butterfly (1:57.84),
Diego Perez in the one-meter dive (215.40), and
Christopher Craig in the three-meter dive (243.00).
The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, February 2
nd, when the team hosts Massachusetts for Senior Day at 1:00 PM.
