Hartford, Conn. – (February 23, 2018) – Behind six match sweeps and one four-game win, the Fordham squash team opened play at the 2018 CSA Team Championship with a 7-2 win over Northeastern in the Chaffee Cup quarterfinals.
Fordham is now 19-3 on the year.
Playing up a division from last year, the Rams entered Friday as the top seed in the Chaffee Cup (#33 nationally), taking on eighth seeded Northeastern.
Fordham pulled out wins at the #3 through #9 position to secure the victory.
John Lennon had the top win in the #3 position over Connor Rouan, 13-11, 11-4, and 11-8, while
Bruce Czachor topped Will Greaves-Tunnell, 11-6, 12-10, and 11-1, at the #4 slot.
At fifth position,
Griffin Fitzgerald toppled Kalil Menezes in three games, 11-8, 11-5, and 11-5 with
Tommy White taking out Francisco Calderon, 11-2, 11-4, and 11-3, at the #6 slot.

Joseph Hughes continued Fordham's winning ways with an 11-8, 11-5, 11-6 victory over Matthew Swenson at the seventh slot, followed by
Justin Deckoff defeating Adi Sureka, 11-2, 11-5, and 11-4 at the #8 position.
Will Beatrez closed out the win for Fordham with a four-game win over Yagnesh Bagrodia in the ninth position, 11-7, 7-11, 11-3, and 11-8.
The Rams move on to the semifinals of the Chaffee Cup Division of the CSA Team Championship and will face Denison at 5:00 PM on Saturday.
