Volleyball Announces 2019 Recruiting Class

Aria De La Rosa and Chloe Pejouan Sign Their National Letters of Intent

Bronx, N.Y. – Head coach Ian Choi and the Fordham volleyball program have announced their 2019 recruiting class, comprised of middle blockers Aria De La Rosa and Chloe Pejouan for the upcoming graduating class of 2023. The duo today signed their National Letters of Intent.

"I am excited to officially welcome our two middle blockers to our Ramily," Choi said, "They will add a level of physicality, athleticism, and depth to our middle position for 2019."

De La Rosa, a 6'2 middle blocker from Portland, Ore., is a four-year letterwinner at Sunset High School under head coach Lad Salness. A four-time All-Academic award winner, on the court she has been Sunset's team captain the past two years as a junior and senior and was named First Team All-Metro League after both seasons. De La Rosa played her club ball with Oregon Junior Volleyball Academy, competing at Nationals each year for the past four years.

"Aria's a quick-twitch athlete who will be very competitive in our conference. Her arm speed and strength impressed us immediately and we're hoping she'll contribute significantly on the offensive side. She has all the tools to become a successful middle blocker."

Pejouan, a 6'3 middle blocker from Carlsbad, Calif., earned four letters at San Dieguito Academy under head coach Will Raschke. Pejouan earned her team's Most Improved Player award as a sophomore and was named team captain this year as a senior. She currently leads her league with the highest kill percentage (.487) and was named to the All-League First Team as a result. She is also a two-time San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic selection the past two years. Pejouan played at the Open level for Wave Volleyball's top team in San Diego.

"Chloe has a certain laser focus and coachability that you rarely stumble upon as a coach. She's the type of athlete who can make a technical change after giving feedback to her only once and that is a very powerful skill. Put that inside a 6'3 frame with a 6'6 wingspan, and you've got a competitive middle blocker."

Fordham has four seniors leaving the team via graduation this May. De La Rosa and Pejouan will bring next year's roster to 14 student-athletes.
