Walnut, Calif. – (October 4, 2018) – The Fordham water polo team began their annual west coast swing on Thursday night, posting a split of matches out in California.
In game one, the Rams fell to Redlands in a tight affair, 5-4.
Fordham trailed 5-2 in the fourth quarter, when the Rams tried to mount a comeback.
Joseph Agabs scored with the man-advantage with 4:47 left, followed by a Philip Wang goal with 3:48 to go, making it a 5-4 game. The Rams however could not find the equalizer over the final minutes, falling by one.
For Fordham,
Magnus Sims had the other two goals, with Wang adding an assist to his goal.
Tristen Knoflick and
Ian Watson each had three steals defensively, while in goal,
Patrick Coffey and
Bailey O'Mara each played two quarters. O'Mara had ten stops, allowing two goals, with Coffey having seven saves and giving up three goals.

The second match saw Fordham register a 15-6 victory over Mt. San Antonio.
The Rams pulled out to a 4-2 first quarter lead, and then extended to a 7-4 lead at the end of the second. Fordham then put the game away in the second half, outscoring Mt. San Antonio, 8-2, for the 15-6 final.
For Fordham,
Jake Miller-Tolt led the way with six goals, three assists, and two steals, while
Dimitris Koukias had three goals. Sims added two goals and four assists in the game with
Gordon Rowland, Wang,
Yuki Saito, and
George Maltby registering the other four goals. Coffey and O'Mara split the game in goal making four and six saves respectively.
The Rams are next in action on Friday, October 5
th, at the Gary Troyer Tournament in Claremont, California, taking on Occidental at 2:00 PM and Whittier at 7:00 PM.
