Rams Earn Three Weekly Patriot League Football Awards

Austin Longi, Tim DeMorat and Andrew Mevis recognized by league

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham senior wide receiver Austin Longi, freshman quarterback Tim DeMorat and sophomore kicker Andrew Mevis were named Patriot League Offensive, Rookie and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced today. It is the third weekly honor of the season for DeMorat and the first for Longi and Mevis.
 
In a 42-41 loss to Bryant on Jack Coffey Field last Saturday, Longi caught ten passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. It was his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the year and the eleventh of his career.
 
On the season Longi leads the Rams with 42 catches for 556 yards and three scores. He leads the Patriot League in receptions/game (5.3) and receiving yards/game (79.4).
 
Over his career, Longi has 173 receptions for 2,163 yards and 18 touchdowns, He is sixth on the Fordham career receptions list, tied for sixth on the school's career touchdown receptions list, and eighth on the all-time receiving yards list.
 
Despite starting out slowly, completing just three of his first ten passes for 34 yards, DeMorat rebounded to make good on 16 of his next 18 tosses for 194 yards and four touchdowns, finishing the game completing 19 of 28 passes for 228 yards and four scores. The four passing touchdowns is a Fordham freshman single game record.
 
On the year DeMorat has completed 78 of 125 passes for 1,027 yards and eight touchdowns. He leads the Patriot League in passing efficiency (147.7) and is second in completion percentage (62.4).
 
Mevis handled all facets of the kicking game for the Rams on Saturday, making good on both of his field goal attempts (32 and 37 yards), and all five of his PATs. He punted five times for 235 yards (47.0 average), placing three of his five punts inside the Bryant 20, including a career-long 70-yard punt that was downed on the one. He also kicked off eight times for 520 yards (65.0 average), placing all eight kicks in the end zone.
 
On the year, Mevis is averaging 41.2 yards/punt with five punts of more than 50 yards and 18 that were placed inside the 20. He also has connected on three field goals and 13 PATs
 
The Rams (1-6, 1-1) return to action on Saturday as they host Lafayette College for a Patriot League matchup on Jack Coffey Field at 1:00 p.m.
