Boca Raton, Fla. – (January 13, 2018) – After a few days of training in Miami, the Fordham swimming & diving team capped its trip with a tri-meet against Florida Atlantic and Central Connecticut State. On the women's side, Fordham earned two wins, defeating FAU, 143-119, and Central Connecticut State, 172-87, while in the men's competition, the Owls edged out the Rams, 143-118.
For the Fordham women, the Rams earned six event wins, which included both relays. The 200 medley relay team of
Michelle Martin,
Gabrielle Celia,
Amelia Bullock, and
Samantha McDonald captured first in 1:47.67, while the 400 freestyle relay team, consisting of
Caitlin McNary,
Tara Brunner, McDonald, and
Theresa Mullen, took the top time in 3:34.34.
Individually, Martin, Brunner, and Bullock, each added an individual win on Saturday. Martin won the 50 freestyle in 24.17 seconds, while Brunner was first in the 100 freestyle in 52.93 seconds. Bullock took the top spot in the 100 butterfly event in 56.13 seconds. The final individual winner was
Bayley Frierson, who grabbed first in the 1650 freestyle in 17:48.24.
The Fordham men matched the women in wins, taking both relays and four individual events as well. The Rams' 200 medley relay group of
Auston Ramsay,
Travis Monahan,
Joe Mercurio, and
Joseph Vizza earned first with a time of 1:35.19, with the 400 freestyle relay team of Monahan, Mercurio, Ramsay, and Vizza were first in 3:11.53.
Mercurio also won two individual events to lead the Rams, taking the top spot in the 50 freestyle (21.55) and the 100 butterfly (51.13). Monahan won the 100 breaststroke in 58.93 seconds, while
Isiah Magsino capture first in the 200 individual medley in 1:57.33.

The Fordham swimming & diving team will next be in action on Saturday, January 20
th, when the Rams host La Salle and Richmond for a tri-meet at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.
