Washington, D.C. – (October 7, 2025) – The Atlantic 10 Conference released its weekly swimming & diving awards on Tuesday with Fordham's
David Vargas (Mexico City, Mexico) being named the Men's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week, while
Karina Kanary (Buda, Texas) was the Women's Swimming & Diving Co-Performer of the Week. Additionally,
Campbell Stever (Ocala, Fla.) earned Women's Rookie of the Week honors.
All three Rams had outstanding debuts for Fordham, starting with Vargas, who won both diving events against Towson with school record performances. He scored 382.43 points on the one-meter board and 412.58 on the three-meter board, breaking the old marks of 349.20 and 345.45, held by Donnie Callara. Both of Vargas' scores currently rank first in the NCAA.
Kanary led the way for the women against Towson with three event wins in her Fordham debut, taking first in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.40), 200 breaststroke (2:21.55), and the 200 individual medley (2:08.56). She was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:46.10). She is currently third in the Atlantic 10 in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events.
Stever won both distance freestyle events against Towson, posting times of 10:28.58 in the 1000 freestyle and 5:08.76 in the 500 freestyle. Her times rank fourth in the conference in both events.
Vargas, Kanary, Stever, and the rest of the Rams are back in the pool on Saturday, October 11
th, for a tri-meet with St. Bonaventure and Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J.
