Hempstead, N.Y. - While some members of the men's tennis team were in Connecticut this weekend, others competed at the Hofstra Invitational where
Lutwin de Macar advanced to the semifinals of the B singles bracket and de Macar and
Fabian Hansch Mauritzson made it to the semifinals of the A doubles championship.
In B singles, de Macar started play defeating Wagner's Ilya Kneppelhout 6-2, 6-1 in the round of 16 and Saint Peter's Ignacio Tintore 9-8 (4) in the quarterfinals before falling to Wagner's Hans Ohrner 8-4 in the semifinals.
Joseph Kavaloski fell to Saint Peter's John Oxner 6-0, 6-2 in the opening round.
In A doubles, Mauritzson and de Macar defeated Saint Peter's Andres Jacome and Igor Khvorostian 6-3 in the round of 16 and bested Hofstra's Jan Leithner and Marcus Smith 6-2 in the quarterfinals before falling to Fairleigh Dickinson's Adam Chan and Niclas Pletsch 6-1 in the semifinals. Kavaloski and
Steven Duka fell to Saint Francis' Alejandro Ridruejo and Guillermo Artiz 6-1 in the opening round.
In C singles play, Duka defeated Saint Peter's Gabe Russoto 6-4, 6-3 in the opening round before falling to Hofstra's David Schrott 8-6 in the quarterfinals.
The Rams return to action October 6-8 at the Farnsworth Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
