Cambridge, Mass. – Playing for its first cup title in recent memory, the Fordham squash team looked primed and ready for its biggest match of the season. Unfortunately for the Rams, Richmond proved to be a touch deeper, winning the bottom five matches right out of the gate, eventually taking a 6-3 win over the Rams to capture the Serues Cup at the CSA Team Championship, held at Harvard University.
Richmond locked up the team win early, getting three sweeps and two four-game wins from the #5 through #9 slots.
Fordham did capture three of the top four slot matches, as
Peter Yuen made it a perfect 3-0 weekend, defeating Jonathan Willmot in three games, 11-1, 11-6, and 11-4, while
Will Pantle also went 3-0. Pantle defeated Christian Megherby in four games, 11-5, 5-11, 13-11, and 11-9.
The Rams' final win came at the #2 position when
Bruce Czachor topped Morgan Simmonds in four games, 11-7, 11-4, 4-11, and 14-12.
With the loss, Fordham ends the season with a 10-9 record.
