Squash Posts 3-2 Record at Navy Round Robin

Annapolis, Md. – (November 12, 2017) – After starting the season at 4-0 last weekend, the Fordham squash team looked to keep their winning ways going at the Navy Round Robin, held at Halsey Field House in Annapolis, Maryland.
 
The round robin began with Fordham taking on host Navy on Friday night with the Midshipmen topping the Rams, 9-0.
 
Navy won all nine matches in three games.  The closest matches for Fordham came at the #6 and #7 slots, as Sam McCartney topped Fordham's Tommy White, 13-11, 11-6, and 11-5, while Dylan Sweeney upended Fordham's Joseph Hughes, 12-10, 11-5, and 11-7.
 
On Saturday, Fordham earned a split of its two matches.  First, the Rams defeated Georgetown by an 8-1 final.  Fordham won six of its eight matches in three games, which came from Peter Yuen, Will Pantle, Bruce Czachor, Griffin Fitzgerald, White, and Hughes.  Justin Deckoff came away with a four-game win at the #8 slot over Jun Ho Song, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6, and 11-4, while John Lennon completed the Fordham win with a five-game win at the second slot over Michael Ficca, 6-11, 11-4, 11-6, 7-11, and 11-3.

 
In match two on Saturday, Fordham fell to Haverford by a 7-2 count.  Pantle and Fitzgerald earned the lone wins for Fordham at the #3 and #5 slots, respectively.  Pantle earned a four-game-win over Peter Dudley, 12-10, 11-6, 5-11, and 12-10, while Fitzgerald posted a five-game win over Andre Giglio, 11-8, 11-9, 9-11, 9-11, and 11-9.
 
The Rams wrapped up the weekend on Sunday with a pair of wins.  First was a 9-0 win over Johns Hopkins, where Czachor, White, Hughes, and Deckoff earned three-game wins with Justin Esposito picking up a win via default.  Yuen earned his second win of the weekend with a four-game win at the #1 slot over Philip Shin, 11-9, 8-11, 11-1, and 11-9, as did Lennon (#2 vs. Rahul Reddy – 11-7, 11-9, 5-11, 11-6).  Fitzgerald and Pantle each won for the third time on the weekend defeating Eli Ross (11-5, 7-11, 11-0, 11-7) and Andrew Suh (10-12, 11-5, 11-3, 11-7), respectively.
 
Fordham then completed the weekend with an 8-1 win over the Navy "B" squad.
 
The Fordham squash team will next be in action on December 2^nd, when the Rams host Penn State and Duke Universities for home match at the Lombardi Center Squash Courts.
