Claremont, Calif. - The Fordham water polo team concluded their road trip to the Gary Troyer Tournament in California of Saturday by splitting their final two matches. The Rams defeated La Verne, 14-9, in match one, while falling to Fresno Pacific, 13-10.
With the split, Fordham finished the road trip at 4-2, putting the team's record at 11-6 on the season.
In match one, Fordham had a strong first half against LaVerne, scoring four times in both the first and second quarter to lead 8-3. The Rams played even with the Leopards over the final two quarters, eventually winning the match by a 14-9 count.
For Fordham,
Jake Miller-Tolt was the scoring star with six goals on eight shots to go with two steals and two blocks.
Massimiliano Mirarchi added three goals, three assists, and four steals, while
Phillip Wang had two goals and an assist.
Joseph Agabs,
Cameron Shewchuck, and
Magnus Sims had the remaining goals for Fordham with
Diego Delgado dishing out four assists. In net,
Alex Jahns had 10 saves over the first three quarters by
Patrick Coffey had two blocks in the final quarter.

In game two, Fordham had a 2-1 lead after the first quarter, but Fresno Pacific scored three times in the second to take a 4-3 lead. Fresno Pacific outscored Fordham by one goal in each remaining period to cap a 13-10 win.
For the Rams, Mirarchi scored four goals, while Miller-Tolt added two.
Magnus Sims had the hat trick to go with two assists with
August Weyandt scoring the final goal. In net, Jahns made six saves.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Wednesday, October 18th, as the Rams host Wagner for their home opener at 7:30 PM.
