Bridgeport, Pa. – The weekly awards for the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) were announced this afternoon by the CWPA, and Fordham junior goalkeeper
Alex Jahns (Greenwich, Conn.) was selected as the co-Defensive Player of the Week, sharing the honor with John Wilson of Johns Hopkins University.
Jahns helped Fordham to a 2-1 weekend with wins over Johns Hopkins and Navy. Between the pipes, the junior goalkeeper totaled 28 saves, nine steals, one assist, and one penalty block in three games. He made 11 saves in an 8-7 win over Johns Hopkins, while at Navy he had ten saves, a career-high five steals, an assist, and a crucial penalty block in Fordham's first-ever win against Navy in 25 all-time meetings.
On the year, Jahns has totaled 70 saves, 17 steals, and five assists from his goalkeeper position.
Jahns and the rest of the water polo team head for another busy weekend this upcoming Saturday and Sunday, as the Rams will host four matches at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center. Fordham takes on Johns Hopkins (12 PM) and #10 Bucknell (7 PM), while facing George Washington (11 AM) and Navy (4 PM) on Sunday. The two matches on Saturday will be streamed on the Patriot League Network.
