Bronx, N.Y. – With eleven practices in the books, we continue our position-by-position breakdown of the 2016 Fordham University football Rams with a look at the offensive line.

The good news for the Rams is that they return four of the five starters from the 2015 squad, a line that helped the Fordham offense lead the Patriot League and rank ninth in the NCAA FCS in scoring, averaging 36.8 points per game. The 2015 squad also led the league and were second in the NCAA FCS in passing efficiency (168.30) and ranked second in the league and 20th in the NCAA FCS in passing yards/game (272.3), 21st in the NCAA FCS in first downs and third in the conference and 43rd in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards/game (180.9).

Leading the returning players is junior center Ben Hartman, who started all 12 games last year, along with junior Anthony Coyle, who earned All-Patriot League honors in 2015 at left tackle.

Also back are seniors John Boyd, who started all 12 games at right guard last season, and Sam Marlin, a starter at right tackle in 2015.

Other linemen returning with experience are seniors Zack Johnson, who appeared in nine games as a junior at all five line positions, making one start at left guard and one at right guard, and Erik McCauley and junior Garrett Donaldson, who appeared in nine games as a sophomore.

Also back are sophomores Charlie Murray, Dominic Lombard and Tristen Novtne. They are joined by freshman Marcel Deya, a product of Stonewall High School in Virginia, Alex Hall, a first team All-Ohio pick at Louisville High School last year, Anthony Solano, an All-New England tackle at Rosemary Choate Hall School and Gavin Grewal, a three-year all-conference selection at Jordan High School in Durham, N.C.

Notes

Junior running back Chase Edmonds and senior tight end Phazahn Odom added to their preseason accolades today as each was named a HERO Sports first team NCAA FCS All-American.
