Bronx, N.Y. – With the final acclimation day in the books, we continue our position-by-position breakdown of the 2016 Fordham with a look at the running backs.
Â
Of course when one thinks of Fordham running backs the name
Chase Edmonds immediately comes to mind. The junior is on track to become the school's all-time leading rusher after setting the single season record as a freshman. Last fall, Edmonds earned consensus All-America honors as well as Patriot League and ECAC Offensive Player of the Year accolades after rushing 251 times for 1,648 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also caught 31 passes for 383 yards and five scores.

Chase Edmonds
Edmonds led the Patriot League and was third in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards and led the league and was fourth in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards/game (137.3) and rushing touchdowns and he led the league and was fourth in the NCAA FCS in all-purpose yards/game (184.18) as well as ranking second in the nation in scoring (12.5 points/game). He broke school and Patriot League record with 347 rushing yards (on 31 carries) with three touchdowns versus Lehigh.
Â
Over his career, Edmonds has rushed for 3,486 yards and 43 touchdowns, both second best on the Fordham career lists. He is 1,131 yards behind Kirwin Watson's career rushing record of 4,617 set from 2000-2003 and four rushing touchdowns away from tying Watson's career mark of 48.
Â
But the Fordham offensive backfield isn't a one man operation as senior
Kendall Pearcey and junior
Jarred Brevard have shown that they can produce when called upon. Last year Pearcey appeared in nine games at running back, rushing 22 times for 134 yards (6.1 yards/carry) with two touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 47 yards and returned four kickoffs for 62 yards.
Â
Brevard carried 19 times for 127 yards and one touchdown in 2015 as well as catching four passes for nine yards. He came on strong at the end of the season when Edmonds and Pearcey were sidelines with injuries, gaining 70 yards on ten carries in the NCAA FCS Championship game at Chattanooga and scoring the game-winning touchdown at Georgetown.
Â
The lone newcomer to the offensive backfield is freshman
D'Angelo Palladino, the Division V Offensive Player of the Year in Ohio's Southeast District in 2014 at Ironton High School.
