Bronx, N.Y. – The Fourth of July weekend was a bit more patriotic at Fordham University as the U.S. Olympic Women's Water Polo team took over the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatics Center to host the Hungarian National Team on Saturday.
The U.S. defeated Hungary, the reigning European champions, 10-7, behind Maggie Steffens' three goals and eight saves from goalie Ashleigh Johnson.
The win completed a three-game East Coast sweep for the Americans over Hungary. The U.S. team will now travel to California for a three game series with Russia starting July 21 at Cathedral Catholic.
