Piscataway, N.J. - The Fordham men's and women's outdoor track and field squads competed in the cold and wet conditions at the 2016 Metropolitan Championships on Friday and Saturday at Rutgers' Bauer Track & Field Complex where the Fordham men placed third of 12 teams and the women were fourth of 13 teams.

Manhattan won the men's team title with 254 points, followed by Rutgers (186), Fordham (93), LIU Brooklyn (78) and Stony Brook (54). On the women's side, St. John's won the team competition with 202 points followed by Rutgers (177), Manhattan (88), Fordham (61) and Stony Brook (54).

The Fordham men had two event winners along with a winning relay while the women had one event winner and one relay winner.

Jake Duckworth got things started for the men on Friday, winning the 10,000m in a time of 34:08.02, just beating teammate
Mike Turi to the line by 0.82 second as Turi took second in 34:08.84. Duckworth and Turi also scored in the 5000m with Duck worth placing sixth (15:12.43) and Turi eighth (15:28.17).

Louis Santelli was the other Ram to win a title, taking gold in the 800m, crossing the line 0.13 seconds ahead of Rutgers' Morgan Murray in a time of 1:56.37

On the distaff side,
Brianna Tevnan won the 3000m steeplechase on Friday in a time of 11:15.74.
