Jordan Allen has been named the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon, after shining in just his second meet as a Rams track athlete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational up at Boston University.
Allen, also a member of the Fordham football team, made his team debut last weekend at the 2016 Metropolitan Championship when he helped his 4x400 meter relay team earn sixth place. On Saturday, Allen ran his first individual race and ripped off a 22.22 IC4A-qualifying time that was also a little under one second away from a new school record. Later in the day, Allen again participated in the 4x400 meter relay and helped his quartet place 21st in a crowded field.
This is Fordham's first Indoor Track & Field Rookie Award in five years -- when former Ram
Ryan Polo earned the honor after his performance at the same event.
The Rams are back in action this weekend at the 2016 A-10 Championship. The two-day event will be hosted by Rhode Island and will begin this Saturday, February 20
th, at 9 a.m.
