Ten Football Rams Earn All-Patriot League Honors

Chase Edmonds earns first team accolades for third straight year

Bronx, N.Y. – The 2016 All-Patriot League football selections were released today and the teams feature ten Rams, including four on the first team.
 
Leading the first team honorees is junior running back Chase Edmonds, the 2016 Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. On the season, Edmonds rushed 257 times for 1,799 yards and 19 touchdowns. He leads the NCAA FCS in rushing yards and rushing yards per game (163.5) as well as ranking second in rushing touchdowns and all-purpose yards per game (194.6). The 1,799 yards is just 39 yards shy of Edmonds' school single season record set in 2014.

Over his three-year career, Edmonds has rushed for a school record 5,285 yards, just 336 yards shy of Jordan Scott's Patriot League career record of 5,621 yards. He has 62 career rushing touchdowns and 69 overall career touchdowns, both school and Patriot League records.
 
Edmonds is joined on the first team by junior offensive lineman Anthony Coyle, senior defensive lineman Justin Vaughn and junior defensive back Caleb Ham.
 
Coyle, who earned second team All-League honors last fall, started all eleven games at left tackle for the Rams in 2016. He helped Fordham lead the Patriot League and rank fourth in the NCAA FCS in total offense, averaging 498.2 yards/game, and lead the league and rank 13th in the NCAA FCS in rushing offense, averaging 229.7 yards/game. The Rams are also second in the Patriot League and seventh in the nation in scoring, averaging 40.1 points per game, and second in the League and ninth in the nation in first downs (257).
 
Vaughn, who started all eleven games at defensive tackle, finished the season with 40 total tackles, 29 solo, and he led the team with 11.0 tackles for loss (34 yards) and was second on the squad with 4.0 sacks (14 yards). He was fourth in the Patriot League in tackles for loss and fourth in sacks. Vaughn also had six quarterback hurries, one pass breakup and one blocked kick.
 
Ham, who started all eleven games at free safety, was second on the team with 62 total tackles, 39 solo, including three for loss (six yards). He tied for the team lead with three interceptions, returning one 63 yards for a score against Yale, and he had six pass breakups. Ham, who ranked third in the Patriot League in interceptions, picked off two passes in the Georgetown game to earn Patriot League Player of the Week honors.
 
Rams placed on the All-Patriot League second team include senior defensive back Jihaad Pretlow (who earned second team honors at both defensive back and return specialist), senior quarterback Kevin Anderson, sophomore tight end Isaiah Searight, sophomore wide receiver Austin Longi, junior offensive lineman Ben Hartman, and senior linebacker George Dawson.
 
Pretlow, who was also named All-League at both positions last fall, finished fourth on the 2016 squad with 46 total tackles, 38 solo, including two for loss and one sack. He also had a team-high eleven pass breakups and one interception. Pretlow was second in the Patriot League and 45th in the NCAA FCS in passes defended.
 
As a returner, Pretlow brought back 18 kickoffs for 511 yards (28.4 average) with a long of 83 yards. He leads the League and is ranked sixth in the NCAA FCS in kickoff return average.
 
Anderson had another strong season as the Fordham signal caller in 2016, completing 201 of 325 passes for 2,724 yards and 27 touchdowns as well as running for 255 net yards and two scores. He leads the Patriot League and is seventh in the NCAA FCS in passing touchdowns and leads the League and is 12th in the nation in passing yards/game (272.4). Anderson also leads the conference and is 17th in the NCAA FCS in total passing yards and leads the league and is tenth in the country in points responsible/game (17.6).

Over his Fordham career, Anderson, a two-year starter, has completed 430 of 667 passes for 5,907 yards and 59 touchdowns. He ranks fifth on the Fordham career passing yards list and third on the career passing touchdown list while his career completion percentage of 64.5 percent is fourth best.  
 
Searight, who appeared in all eleven games for the Ram in 2016, caught 13 passes for 181 yards and two scores and provided solid blocking for Edmonds.
 
Longi, a starter at wide receiver for all eleven games this fall, hauled in 59 passes for 774 yards, both team-highs, and six scores. He is fifth in the Patriot League in receiving yards/game (70.3) and receiving touchdowns and sixth in receptions/game (5.3)
 
Hartman, a two-year starter, captained the Fordham offensive line from his center position. He helped Fordham lead the Patriot League and rank fourth in the NCAA FCS in total offense, averaging 498.2 yards/game, and lead the league and rank 13th in the NCAA FCS in rushing offense, averaging 229.7 yards/game. The Rams are also second in the Patriot League and seventh in the nation in scoring, averaging 40.1 points per game, and second in the League and ninth in the nation in first downs (257).
 
Dawson, a starter at strong side linebacker in 2016, made 70 total tackles, 50 solo, both team-highs. Included in his 70 stops were nine for loss (39 yards) and 3.5 sacks (18 yards). He also tied for the team lead with three interceptions and was second on the squad with nine pass breakups. Dawson, who also recorded two forced fumbles and recovered one fumble, tied for third in the Patriot League in interceptions, was 14th in tackles for loss and 16th in tackles/game.
 
Over his career, Dawson recorded 223 total tackles, 151 solo, including 24.5 for loss and 6.5 sacks. He also had five interceptions and 18 pass breakups.
 
The Rams closed out the season with an 8-3 overall record, 5-1 in the Patriot League. It is Fordham's fourth straight winning season, the first time the Rams have posted four consecutive winning campaigns since 1976-1979.
