Miami Box ScoreThe Fordham squash team was back in action this weekend at the Johns Hopkins Round Robin in Baltimore, Maryland, following the team's trip to the United Kingdom earlier this month. Though the team played shorthanded, the Rams picked up three wins in four matches.
Fordham is now 8-5 on the season.
In the team's opening match on Friday, the Rams opened with a 6-3 win over Lehigh. Fordham was led by their top two players, as
Kincade Webster won at the #1 spot, 11-7, 11-8, and 11-6, over Lehigh's Gordon Newell, while
Jeremy Keller topped Max Liu, 11-7, 11-9, and 11-9, in the #2 spot.
John Lennon,
Sahil Bahri,
James Potts, and
Robert Levis also posted win in the fourth, fifth, seventh, and eighth slots to secure the win over the Mountainhawks.
On Saturday, the Rams began the day with a 7-2 win over Penn State.
Webster,
Matthew Crowe, and
Robert Levis each earned three-game win at the first, sixth and eighth slots, while Keller,
Jimmy Shinnick, and Potts won their matches in four. Bahri capped the Fordham win with a five-game win over Penn State's Jack Dalton at the #5 slot, 9-11, 11-8, 11-5, 8-11, and 11-3.
Match two on Saturday saw Fordham take a 7-2 loss to Denison.
The lone wins for Fordham came from Bahri at the #5 slot over Drew Levine in five game, 11-8, 8-11, 11-5, 7-11, and 13-11, while Potts took down Luke Friedman in three game at the seventh slot, 11-3, 11-5, and 11-6.
Fordham wrapped up the Johns Hopkins Round Robin with a 5-4 win over the University of Miami (Fla.).
Webster and Keller opened with victories at the #1 and #2 slots for Fordham with Webster outlasting Ahmad Almasoud in five games, 11-13, 12-10, 11-3, 4-11, and 11-5, while Keller won in three games.
The Rams then capped the win with victories by Crowe, Potts, and Levis. Potts capped a personal 4-0 weekend with a five-game win over Courtney Hamilton at the #7 position, 11-6, 7-11, 8-11, 11-5, and 11-9.
The Fordham squash team will next be in action on Saturday, February 6
th, when the Rams host a tri-match with NYU at 9:00 AM and Bucknell at noon.
