Fordham's title dream depends on little running back who could (New York Post)
The Fordham captains will be
Kevin Anderson,
George Dawson,
Stephen Hodge and
Garrick Mayweather, Jr.
The scout team players of the week were announced following practice on Wednesday:
Tyler Long (offense for defense),
Liam Cadman (defense for the offense) and
Cory Kopicki (special teams)
This will be the fifth meeting between Fordham and Army West Point on the gridiron. The Black Knights have won the previous four matchups, including a 42-31 win in Michie Stadium last year on November 22.
The Fordham University Rams are 48-29 all-time in season openers since 1920, 9-17 since moving to the NCAA FCS in 1989. Last year's season-opening win over Saint Francis was Fordham's third straight, after the Rams had dropped three straight opening day games.
Fordham head coach
Joe Moorhead is looking to become the first Fordham mentor to win his first four season openers since Jim Crowley won the season opener in each of his first four years at the helm from 1933-36.
The Fordham Rams enter the 2015 season without a quarterback on the roster who has attempted a pass in a college game. The lone player to have attempted a pass in a college game is punter
Joe Pavlik, who threw a touchdown pass to
Marc DeSisto last year at Army.
It's not just quarterback where the Rams lack experience. Fordham also does not have a player on the roster who has attempted a field goal or extra point in a college game.
