College Sports Madness FCS Players of the Week Center Valley, Pa. – Fordham University junior quarterback
Kevin Anderson was named the Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and junior placekicker
Makay Redd was named Special Teams Player of the Week it was announced by the league today. It is the second straight weekly honor for Anderson, who was also named the College Sports Madness Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, while Redd earns his first ever weekly accolade.
In a 54-31 win over Monmouth on Saturday on Jack Coffey Field, Anderson completed 19 of 27 passes for a season-high 340 yards and five touchdowns and he also rushed eight times for 35 net yards. It was the second consecutive week he has thrown five touchdown passes, just one shy of the school record set by Kevin Eakin at Rhode Island in 2003 and matched by
Mike Nebrich against Penn last year. Anderson is the first Fordham quarterback to throw five touchdown passes in back-to-back games.
In four starts this year, Anderson has thrown for over 300 yards three times. On the year, the junior has completed 65 of 102 passes for 1,077 yards and eleven touchdowns and he ranks fourth in the NCAA FCS with a 182.1 passing efficiency mark.
Redd, who entered the season without a collegiate field goal attempt, connected on a pair of three-pointers in the third quarter against Monmouth, a 29-yarder and a 54-yarder, which was one yard shy of the school record and the third-longest successful kick in the FCS this season. He also made good on six of his seven PATs and sent three of his ten kickoffs into the end zone for a touchback, averaging 61.0 yards/kickoff.
On the year Redd has connected on five if his six field goal attempts and 15 of 17 PATs and he is averaging 60.0 yards/kickoff.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 3, as they travel to Easton, Pennsylvania, to open defense of their Patriot League title by taking on the Lafayette College Leopards at 6:00 p.m.
