Box ScoreOrlando, Fla. (March 20, 2015) – The Fordham women's tennis team wrapped up its spring trip to Florida with a 4-3 win over Bethune-Cookman on Friday at Sanlando Park. 
Things didn't start off well for the Rams, who dropped the doubles point, losing all three doubles matches. Bethune-Cookman's Mina Matsuba and Maria Sablina took first doubles from 
Elliesa Ball and 
Sarah Ali, 8-6, while Gaby Chinchilla and Chinatsu Kajiwara upended 
Bella Genkina and 
Anika Novacek at the second position, 8-4, and Ancia Ifill and Alejandra Vidal were victorious over 
Julie Leong and 
Estelle Wong at third doubles, 8-4. 
But the Rams battled back to win four singles matches and pull out the win. Ali got things started with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Kajiwara at second singles while Leong  took care of business at fourth singles, knocking off Vidal in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. 
Genkina earned the third singles wins for the Rams, defeating Ifill at the sixth position, 6-4, 6-0, which meant the match came down to the fifth singles competition. 
Destiny Grunin dropped the first set at fifth singles to Chinchilla, 4-6, but came back to win a hard-fought second set, 7-5, and then took the tiebreaker, 10-8, to give Fordham the 4-3 win. 
The Rams return to action on Wednesday, March 25, as they host Fairleigh Dickinson University on the Hawthorn-Rooney Courts at 12:00 PM.
