Box Score The Fordham squash team began play at the 2015 CSA Team Championship on Friday at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
The Rams were ranked 39
th in the CSA standings, which placed Fordham into the Chaffee Cup Division with an opening round match with Johns Hopkins.
Fordham put up a good fight, but were unable to get past the Blue Jays, falling by an 8-1 score.
Will Wardrop got Fordham off to a good start with a four-game win over Noel Swanson at the #3 slot by scores of 11-5, 9-11, 11-3, and 11-3.
Peter Yuen,
Joseph Hughes, and
Jimmy Shinnick looked to follow suit at the second, fourth, and seventh slots respectively as each won their opening game. However, Yuen and Hughes would drop three straight games to lose in four to Luca Pinelli (8-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-5) and Stefan Reichenstein (10-12, 11-2, 11-6, 11-7), while Shinnick fell in five games to Anderson Liu, 12-14, 8-11, 11-6, 11-9, and 11-9.
Matthew Crowe also lost in four games for the Rams to Harsh Kapadia at the ninth slot, 11-7, 7-11, 11-0, and 11-3.
Kincade Webster,
Paul Monaghan,
Alex LaVersa, and
John Lennon each lost their match in three games.
The loss puts Fordham into the consolation bracket, where the Rams will face Northeastern at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
