Minnesota Box ScoreThe Fordham squash team got back on the winning track on Saturday, earning a pair of victories over Boston University and Minnesota at the Swarthmore Round Robin in Pennsylvania.
With the two wins, Fordham improved to 3-4 on the season.
In the first match of the day, the Rams upended Boston University, 5-4.
Fordham earned points at the second, third, seventh, eighth, and ninth positions to earn the win.Â
Peter Yuen recorded a three-game win over Parker Tinossi at the second slot (11-4, 11-9, 11-7), with
Jeremy Keller following with a four-game win over Joel Lavoie at the third position (11-6, 13-11, 12-14, 11-9).
Matthew Crowe (11-9, 11-9, 11-2) and Robert Levis (11-7, 15-13, 11-8) both earned 3-0 wins for the Rams at the eighth and ninth slots, with
Sahil Bahri clinching the team victory with a 6-11, 11-4, 11-1, and 11-8 win at the #7 slot over Chris Schwagerl.
In match #2, Fordham posted an 8-1 win over the Golden Gophers of Minnesota.
Matthew CroweThe Rams earned a match win at the #1 spot, followed by victories at the #3 through #8 slots. Levis won by default at the ninth slot for the final point. In the top spot,
Kincade Webster topped Sho Gupta of Minnesota in three games, 12-10, 11-3, 11-8.
Keller earned his second win of the day at the third slot in four games over K.T. Ng, 12-10, 13-11, 7-11, and 11-6, as did Bahri in the #7 slot (11-2, 11-2, 11-2) and Crowe in the #8 slot (11-5, 11-5, 11-1).
Alex LaVersa (3-11, 11-7, 6-11, 11-5, 14-12) pulled out a dramatic five-game win over Chris Bowles in the fourth slot, with
Jimmy Shinnick (#5 spot - 11-4, 11-2, 11-6) and
John Lennon (#6 - 11-4, 11-0, 11-3) getting the final two points
The Fordham squash team concludes its stay at the Swarthmore Round Robin on Sunday with matches against Penn State at 11:15 AM and host Swarthmore at 1:45 PM.
