Bronx, N.Y. – For the second straight year, members of the Fordham football, softball and women's basketball team played Santa on Wednesday, paying a visit to the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY, to distribute gifts to the patients.
Â
The Rams walked the halls of the children's hospital, stopping off at patient rooms to deliver a stuffed animal, book or toy and to spread holiday cheer to those who may not be home for Christmas.
Â
The visit was arranged by former Ram Dr. Joseph T. Boyer, FCRH '84, an attending in Pediatric Pulmonology and a former member of the football team, who escorted the student-athletes through the facility.
Â
"I'm so happy that the Fordham student-athletes returned to the hospital this year," said Dr. Boyer. "For them to give up a part of their day during finals week means so much to us and the patients here at the center. The reaction of some of the children is incredible. When the kids see them, even if they are having a bad day, they get excited."
