Haverford Box ScoreThe Fordham squash team earned a split of matches on day two of the Navy Round Robin, defeating Washington, 6-3, while falling to Haverford, 5-4.
The split puts Fordham's record at 1-2 on the year.
In the opening match of the day, Fordham posted wins at the #3 through #8 slots to earn the 6-3 win over Washington.
Jeremy Keller led the way in the third slot with a four-game win over Jai Padmakumar, 6-11, 11-5, 11-9, and 11-5, while
John Lennon took the #4 slot match from Malcolm Daigle in five games, 6-11, 12-10, 11-1, 9-11, and 11-6.
Jimmy Shinnick (11-6, 11-4, 11-3) and Sahil Bahri (15-13, 11-3, 11-5) swept their matches at the fifth and sixth slots for Fordham, with
Matthew Crowe (9-11, 11-2, 11-2, 11-3) and
James Potts (9-11, 11-4, 11-2, 11-6) rounding out the win with a pair of four-game victories at the seventh and eighth slots, respectively.
In the second match of the day, the short-handed Rams were handed a 5-4 loss by Haverford with the difference being a defaulted match to Haverford as Fordham only had eight players.
Fordham won at the top three matches, getting wins by
Kincade Webster,
Peter Yuen, and Keller. Webster defeated Nate Vestrich-Shade at the #1 slot, 11-9, 11-7, and 11-4, while Yuen topped Peter Dudley at the #2 spot, 11-6, 11-8, and 11-9.Â
Keller earned his second victory of the day at the third slot over Haverford's Laurenson Ward in four games (11-6, 8-11, 11-4, 11-9), as did Crowe, who defeated Will Greer in four games (11-2, 11-6, 8-11, 14-12).
However, the Rams were unable to pick up the decisive fifth victory in the final four matches. The closest was Shinnick, who fell in four games to Jon Nguyen (9-11, 11-8, 11-2, 11-9).
The Fordham squash team finishes its stay at Navy on Sunday, November 8th, with an 11:30 AM match against Georgetown.
