ResultsThe Fordham swimming & diving team hit the road this weekend, traveling to Boston University for a dual meet with the Terriers on Saturday. The Rams won seven individual events and saw eight season-best times, but it was not enough against the Terriers, falling 191-109 in the women's competition, while the men also lost, 190-107.
Steve Sholdra had the best day of the men's swimmers, taking home three event wins. He won the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:43.31, while posting season-best time wins in the 200-yard butterfly (1:48.61) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:33.93).
Though Sholdra was the lone men's event winner, the Rams posted four season-best times which were good for second place finishes. The men's 200 medley relay posted a season-best time of 1:36.36, while teh 400 freestyle relay did the same with a time of 3:11.93. Individually,
Thomas Shetler swam the fastest 50-yard freestyle of teh season thus far at 21.54 seconds, while
Liam Semple had a season-best time in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.06 seconds.
Fordham also got second place finishes from
Isiah Magsino in the 100-yard backstroke (52.74),
Miguel Mattox in the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.75), and Matthew Luther in the 100-yard butterfly (52.38).
Steve SholdraIn the women's competition, diver
Wendy Espina-Esquivel was the top performers, winning both diving competitions with scores of 241.20 (3M) and 263.10 (1M).
Morgan Fairclough and
Shannon Lulley also won events, as Fairclough had the top time in the 100-yard backstroke in 58.11 seconds with Lulley taking the 50-yard freestyle in 24.25 seconds.
Megan Polaha added a pair of second place finishes for the Rams, registering season-best times in the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.89) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.57), while
Anna Marshall (100 breaststroke - 1:08.67) and
Theresa Goehring (200 backstroke - 2:06.72) also added second place finishes for Fordham.
In relay action, both the 200 medley relay (1:46.84) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:33.46) earned second place finishes.
The Fordham swimming & diving teams will next be in action on Friday, Novemebr 13th, when the women host LIU-Post at 6:00 PM, while the men will next be in action November 20-22 at the Bucknell Invitational.
