Fordham’s Stephen Hodge Added to STATS FCS Defensive Player of the Year Watch List

Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year in running for national honor

STATS 2015 Defensive Player of the Year Watch List
 
Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham University graduate student linebacker Stephen Hodge has been added to the 2015 STATS FCS Defensive Player of the Year Watch List it was announced this week.
 
A national panel of over 150 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries will select the award winner. Voting for the defensive player of the year award will take place next week, with the top three vote-getters from 25 finalists being invited to the STATS FCS Awards Banquet on Jan. 8 in Frisco, Texas.
 
Hodge, who missed all of last year with an injury, leads the Rams with 109 total tackles, 61 solo, including 10.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also has three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, three pass breakups, two quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and one blocked kick. Hodge is third in the Patriot League, and 30th in the NCAA FCS, in tackles/game (9.9) and tied for eighth in tackles for loss/game (0.95) while also ranking 22nd in the NCAA FCS in solo tackles per game (5.5).
 
Over his career Hodge, the 2013 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, has amassed 245 tackles, 173 solo, including 27.5 for loss and 8.0 sacks. He also has four career interceptions and eight pass breakups.
