HERO Sports Release Bronx, N.Y. – After rushing for a career-best 234 yards at Lafayette on Saturday, Fordham sophomore running back
Chase Edmonds was named Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week as well as College Sports Madness Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and a HERO Sports Offensive Stud of the Week it was announced today.
In Fordham's 35-7 Patriot League win at Lafayette on Saturday night, Edmonds rushed 30 times for the 234 yards, scoring twice, the first on a 67-yard run on the final play of the first quarter to give the Rams a 14-7 lead and then on a one-yard rush in the third quarter to make it a 35-7 game. His previous career-high was 231 yards set last year against Rhode Island.
On the year, Edmonds has rushed 96 times for 654 yards with seven touchdowns. He leads the NCAA FCS in rushing yards and has moved up to sixth on the Fordham career rushing yards list with 2,492, while also ranking second in the nation in rushing touchdowns.
Edmonds, the Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, is named Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year and the fourth time overall, after earning the award twice as a freshman.
Last year, Edmonds received the Jerry Rice Award as the NCAA FCS Rookie of the Year as well as All-America and Patriot League Rookie of the Year accolades.
The Rams (4-1, 1-0), who entered the Lafayette game ranked 13
th in the NCA AFCS Coach poll, return to action on Saturday, October 10, as they travel to Philadelphia to take on the University of Pennsylvania Quakers on Franklin Field at 1:00 p.m.
