Virginia Box ScoreThe Fordham squash team returned to action for the first time this semester this weekend, as the Rams participated in a tournament hosted by the University of Virginia. The Rams came away with a successful stint, posting a 3-2 record.
The Rams opened the tournament on Saturday with a 6-3 win over Richmond. Fordham recorded wins at the first through fifth slots to get things going, led by
Kincade Webster's first slot win over Jonathan Patteson, 11-7, 10-12, 11-8, and 11-5.

Paul Monaghan (4
th), and
Joseph Hughes (5
th) followed with victories with
Matthew Crowe rounding out the victories in the #9 slot over Michael Beck, 11-9, 1-11 11-7, and 11-6.
In the Rams' second match on Saturday, Fordham fell to Georgetown, 6-3. The Rams got wins from their top three players. Webster defeated James Calello at the first slot (11-15, 11-6, 11-4), while Yuen topped James Yacobucci in the second slot (11-5, 11-3, 11-9). Wardrop then recorded a third slot win over Mac Williams, 11-7, 11-7, and 11-5.
Matthew Crowe The final match on Saturday saw the Rams pick up a 6-3 win over Charleston. Webster, Yuen, and Wardrop each picked up their third individual win of the day to open up a 3-0 edge. Hughes then defeated Chandler Kurtz at the fifth slot, 11-8, 11-9, 11-8, while
Alex LaVersa and Crowe recorded wins at the eighth and ninth slots.
On Sunday, Fordham began the day with a perfect 9-0 win over Dickinson College. In that match, Webster, Yuen, and Wardrop improved to 4-0 in the tournament, while Crowe and Hughes improved to 3-1. Monaghan and La Versa each recorded their second win of the tournament, while
John Lennon and
Jimmy Shinnick each posted their first win of the weekend at the sixth (11-0, 11-1, 11-2) and seventh (11-2, 11-1, 11-6) slots, respectively.
In the final match of the tournament, Fordham fell to the host school Virginia, 7-2. Yuen completed a perfect 5-0 weekend as he posted a, 11-4, 11-6, 11-6 win over Stewart Stauton, while the Rams' other victory came from Crowe at the ninth slot, as he took down Yohan Kim, 11-8, 11-8, 5-11, and 14-12.
The Fordham squash team will next be in action on January 30-31, as the Rams take part in the Johns Hopkins Round Robin Tournament. Fordham takes on Penn State on day one, followed by matches against Ithaca, Colgate and Siena on day two.
