Mike Nebrich & Chase Edmonds Earn Patriot League Football Awards for Second Straight Week

Nebrich named offensive player of the week; Edmonds rookie of the week

Bronx, N.Y. (September 29, 2014) – For the second straight week, Fordham University senior quarterback Mike Nebrich and freshman running back Chase Edmonds were named the Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league today. Additionally, Nebrich was also named a College Sporting News All-Stars.
 
It is the fourth Patriot League rookie of the week award for Edmonds while Nebrich picks up his second weekly award of 2014, the seventh of his Fordham career.
 
In a 45-16 Patriot League win at Holy Cross last Saturday, Nebrich , who had a hand in five of the six Fordham touchdowns, completed 32 of 42 passes for 315 yards and four touchdowns while also running for a score. His four passing touchdowns bring his career total to 48, moving him ahead of Kevin Eakin (2000-03) and into second place on the Fordham career list (John Skelton has the record with 69).
 
On the year, Nebrich has completed 111 of 182 passes for 1,451 yards and 12 touchdowns. He leads the Patriot League and is tied for second in the NCAA FCS in both passing yards and touchdown passes. He also leads the league and is seventh in the NCAA FCS in passing yards/game (290.2) and points responsible for (80). He leads all active FCS players in career total offense and passing yards per game.
 
Edmonds carried 26 times for 142 yards and one touchdown, his fourth 100-yard rushing game over the first five games of the year, against Holy Cross and he also returned a kickoff for 14 yards. Edmonds leads the nation with an average of 207.0 all-purpose yards/game in his first five contests and he leads the Patriot League and is third in the NCAA FCS in rushing yards (723) and leads the conference and is seventh nationally in rushing yards/game (144.6). He has topped 150 yards rushing in four of his first five games.
 
On the year, Edmonds has rushed for 723 yards on 103 carries with eight touchdowns and he has also returned 12 kickoffs for 264 yards (22.0/return) and caught seven passes for 52 yards and a score.
 
The 4-1 Rams, who were ranked 16th in the country last week, continue Patriot League play this Friday night as the host Lafayette College on Jack Coffey Field at 6:30 p.m. in a game that will be broadcast live on the CBS Sports Network.
