Bronx, N.Y. (August 10, 2014) – The first week of 2014 Fordham football camp came to an end today with the first scrimmage of camp. Both the offense and the defense showed what they are capable of as the Rams get ready for the 2014 season.
Â
Here are some notes from the scrimmage:
Â
Freshman running back
Chase Edmonds showed everyone why he earned the MVP award from the Pennsylvania Big 33 All-Star game, scoring on two long runs today (53 and 46 yards)
Â
The defense came up with some big stops, none bigger than when
Griffin Murphy grabbed
Andrew Erenberg in the back field on third and goal from the one, holding the offense to a field goal.
Â
Kyvaune Brammer had a hand in setting up that scoring chance, grabbing a pair of passes from
Nick Glogau, breaking a tackle on the second, to put the ball on the eight yard line.
Â
The offense picked up back-to-back first downs when trapped back on its own one to start the scrimmage.
Â
Michael Marando (27) and
Patrick Fordham (20) each connected on a field goal for the offense.
Â
Brian Wetzel made a nice fingertip catch to set up Marando's field goal, one of three receptions for the senior wide out on the drive.
Â
Speaking of fingertip catches,
Robbie Cantelli had one in the end zone but he was ruled out of bounds on third and goal from the eleven.
Â
Jordan Chapman had a pair of pass breakups for the defense, a unit that recorded four sacks on the day
