Softball Opens A-10 Championship Against UMass

After the Minutewomen emerged victorious in the opening game of the Atlantic 10 Championship against Dayton, the number one seed Fordham Rams will look to hand them their first loss of the tournament when the two teams square off at noon tomorrow at Bahoshy Field in the Bronx.

The Rams will be led into the game by a trio of major conference award winners: Coach of the Year Bridget Orchard, Player of the Year Elise Fortier and Co-Pitcher of the Year Michele Daubman.

Fortier, who leads the Atlantic 10 in home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage and walks, currently sits two home runs behind Fordham career leader Jocelyn Dearborn with 43.  

Fortier and Daubman are two of five Rams to earn First Team All-Conference honors this season, joining teammates Gabby Luety, Amy Van Hoven and Sydney Canessa.  Daubman and Kayla Lombardo also earned Academic All-Conference recognition, while Van Hoven and Canessa found spots on the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.
