15-Game Winning Streak Snapped in the Buckeye State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

A week after clinching the Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship, the Rams closed out the regular season campaign with a pair of losses at Dayton on Saturday afternoon.

The losses ended a 15-game winning streak for the Rams, who will begin play in the Atlantic 10 Championship as the number one seed on Thursday at Bahoshy Field in the Bronx.

Elise Fortier tallied a round tripper and three RBIs on the day, bumping her career home run total to 43 and raising her single-season RBI total to 67.  The former is two shy of tying the school's all-time home run mark, while the latter is a single-season school record.

The Rams trailed 5-1 in game number one after three innings, but soon battled back to knot the score at five and force extra innings.

In the top of the eighth, Kayla Lombardo and Michele Daubman each hit two-run homers, giving the Rams a commanding 9-5 lead.

The Flyers, however, responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame before eventually pushing across the game winning run in the bottom of the tenth and taking game one.

The Rams grabbed an early lead in game number two on an RBI single from Fortier, but the Flyers scored three unanswered to take a 3-1 lead after two.

Lombardo and Gabby Luety combined for a pair of RBIs to tie the score in the top of the third, but Dayton closed the contest with four straight runs, securing the doubleheader sweep.
