Results Fairfield, Conn. (April 5, 2014) – The Fordham University rowing squad ventured up to Fairfield on Saturday to compete in the Sacred Heart Invitational and enjoyed a highly successful day, winning all three varsity races.
"I was really impressed by the results," said head coach
Ted Bonanno. "To totally sweep all the varsity events was outstanding, especially since we had been training hard all week leading up to the regatta. These results, along with the strong results from the week before, have really helped build the team's confidence."
The Fordham varsity 8 had little problem winning its race, crossing the line in 7:35.90, almost six seconds ahead of the runner up shell from Fairfield. The Rams also beat Robert Morris, Canisius, Iona and Sacred Heart. The varisty 8 was comprised of

In the second varsity 8, the Rams easily beat Fairfield to the line, covering the course in 7:49.30, 19 seconds ahead of the Stags. Robert Morris, Canisius and Fairfield finished third through fifth. The second varsity 8 was comprised of

Alexandra McDonald, Courtney Cambria, Kasia Wlodarkiewicz, Elizbeth Helmer, MariaLuisa Capuano, Julie Barr and Jenn Amoroso with
Megan Feerick as coxswain.
Fordham split its third varsity 8 into two fours to compete in the varsity 4, which started with heats. In heat one, the Fordham 4 beat three other shells to the finish to advance to the finals while in heat two, the Fordham entry placed second, three seconds behind Sacred Heart, but also advanced to the finals. The winning 4 was comprised of Maura O'Donnell,

Jacquelyn Ramos at coxswain while the second lightweight 4 was comprised of

In the varsity 4 finals, the Fordham boats placed one-two with the winners clocking in at 8:42.20 and the runner up in 8:58.22. The two beat Robert Morris, Fairfield and NY Maritime in the finals.
The Rams also entered a boat in the novice 8 race, taking second place behind Robert Morris but ahead of Fairfield, Sacerd Heart and Iona. The novice 8 was comprised of

The Fordham crew will next be in action on April 12 and 13 as they compete in the Knecht Cup on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.
