In what was an amazing first day at the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championship in Boston, Massachusetts, the Fordham Rams qualified for five Sunday finals, while senior David Fajoyomi won the high jump event in school record fashion.

Fajoyomi earned First Team All-East honors by winning the high jump event with a school record jump of 7' 3 ¾" over 26 other athletes. The previous mark was held by Barry Cantrell, who cleared 7' 3 ¼" in 1998. Fajoyomi's height currently ranks him sixth in the country.

Fajoyomi earned 10 points for the Fordham men, which puts them in sixth place out of the 24 teams that scored on day one. The Rams will add to that total on Sunday, as Fordham qualified for three finals, while also having Mike Turi competing in the 3,000 meter event.

First, it was Sean Collins in the 500 meter run, as he qualified seventh overall in a season-best time of 1:03.82, while Ryan Polo qualified eighth overall in the 1,000 meter run in a season-best time of 2:26.10.

Finally, it was the men's distance medley relay team of Brian Walter, Collins, Lester Taylor, and Jonathan Annelli, which qualified second overall in 10:00.10.

On the women's side, Fordham had qualifiers in the 500 meter run and the 4x800 relay.Â
Titi Fagade qualified for Sunday's final in the 500 meter run in 1:14.22, while the 4x800 relay squad of
Melissa Higgins,
Danielle Rowe,
Mara Lieberman, and
Kristen Stuart qualified fourth overall in 8:53.00.

The final Ram competitor on day one was
Anisa Arsenault, as she posted a season-best time of 17:05.21 to finish 12
th in the 5,000 meter run.

In addition to the two women's qualifiers on Sunday, Fordham will have a chance to score in the distance medley relay event as well.
