After a week's hiatus, the Fordham track & field team was back in action on Saturday in the team's first outdoor meet of the season at the Golden Ram Invitational, hosted by West Chester University in Pennsylvania. No team scoring was kept.
Fordham had a number of top five finishes, led by two event wins. Michael Belgiovine won the men's 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:23.89, while Briana Tevnan took home the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase event in a time of 11:23.30.
The Rams also had six second place finishes, three in the running events and three in the field events.
Mia Toffoli finished second in the women's 800 meters in 2:23.25, while
Elise Tigani was second in the 400 meter dash in 1:02.70. Joe Hartnett was the final runner-up in the running events, taking second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 10:09.10.
In the field events, Pat McGuire grabbed second in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 127' 0" with Austin Ruiz finishing second in the men's shot put with a mark of 48' 2 ½".
Caitlin Hart also took second in the women's javelin throw with a distance of 102' 5".
Other top performers were Yehia Fahmy, who was third in the men's 1500 meter run (4:09.56),
Rachel Picard, who was third in the women's 1500 meter run (4:57.54), and
Hailey Serrano, who was fourth in the hammer throw (113' 5") and sixth in the discus throw (98' 4").
The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on March 28-29, as the team will split its efforts at the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, Virginia, and the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.
