Track & Field Competes at BU Last Chance Meet

Two School Records Fall, While Rams Add Three More ECAC Qualifiers for Next Week’s Championship

Results

Sunday for the final chance for members of the Fordham track & field team to get into next week's ECAC/IC4A Championship.  The Rams did not disappoint at BU's Last Chance Meet, as Fordham added three new ECAC qualifiers, broke two school records, and saw career-best runs by seven different Rams.

Starting the day in the women's 400 meter dash, junior Kristen Stuart broke the school record in an ECAC qualifying time of 56.77 seconds, which was good for sixth overall.  Stuart's career-best mark just snuck by the record of 56.79 seconds, set by Titi Fagade last year.  Fordham almost had a second ECAC qualifier in the 400, as Danielle Rowe took seventh overall in a career-best time of 57.05 seconds, just missing the ECAC qualifying mark by .01 seconds.

In the women's 800 meters, Fagade was the top overall finisher in seventh place, posting a time of 2:09.41, while Melissa Higgins had her career-best run, taking ninth in an ECAC qualifying time of 2:12.63.

The women's mile saw Fordham's final new ECAC qualifier, as Mara Lieberman finished 13th overall in the mile run in 4:54.93.

The day's competition finished on a high note, as the women's 4x400 relay of Rowe, Averie Sheppard, Fagade, and Stuart broke the school record in a time of 3:47.45 to take fifth overall.  The previous mark was 3:49.05, set in 2012 by Fagade, Sheppard, Elisabeth Warren, and Kelly Connolly.

On the men's side, Fordham had four competitors with three posting career-best times.  Sean Collins was 11th overall in the 400 meter dash in 49.38 seconds, while Lester Taylor and Jonathan Annelli both improved their IC4A qualifying marks in the 800 meter run and the mile run, respectively.

Taylor was 13th overall in the 800 meters in a career-best mark of 1:53.44, while Annelli was also 13th in the mile run in a personal-best time of 4:08.22.

The Rams' final competitor was Brian Walter, who took 18th overall in the mile run in 4:18.32.

The Rams will conclude the indoor season at the ECAC/IC4A Championship next weekend in Boston.
