Softball Falls to UCF, 2-1

Despite surrendering only two hits on the afternoon, the Fordham Rams dropped their first game of the season to UCF on Sunday, 2-1.

Gabby Luety led the Rams at the plate, going 3-3 and tallying the team's lone RBI of the afternoon.  Sydney Canessa, Kayla Lombardo, Elise Fortier and Brianna Turgeon also picked up hits for the Rams on Sunday.

Fordham (2-1) got on the board first, plating one run in the top of the first to take the early lead.  Canessa started the action with a leadoff single before moving over to second on a Lombardo sac bunt.  Fortier singled through the left side to move Canessa to third before Luety brought her home and gave the Rams an early advantage.

The Rams maintained their advantage over the next several frames, as Daubman shut down the Knights.  But UCF (3-0) finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, pushing two runs across.

UCF maintained that lead for the rest of the game, taking the victory.
