Bard Box Score | Vermont Box Score | Vassar Box Score

The Fordham squash team put together three strong performances on Saturday in Poughkeepsie, New York, as the Rams won the Hudson Valley Team Championship with a perfect 3-0 record.

Fordham opened the day with a 9-0 win over Bard College.

Bard played with only six people, which gave Fordham an early 3-0 advantage.  The Rams then swept through the first through sixth slots in straight sets to win the match 9-0.  Kincade Webster, Jeremy Keller, Paul Monaghan, Alex LaVersa, Jimmy Shinnick, and Carlos Ortiz recorded the Fordham victories.

The win also gave Fordham a season sweep of Bard.

In match two, Fordham topped Vermont, 8-1.

Vermont traveled eight players, which gave Fordham a 1-0 lead.  The Rams then followed with straight set wins at the #1 (Webster) and #2 (Keller) slots, as well as at the fifth (Shinnick), sixth (Ortiz), and eighth (James Potts) slots to clinch a spot in the final.  LaVersa and Matthew Crowe rounded out the match with four-set wins at the fourth and seventh slots, respectively.

In the championship match, Fordham defeated host school, Vassar, by an 8-1 count.

The Rams earned early points with straight set victories by Keller, Monaghan, Potts, and Crowe.  Ross Garlick split the first two sets with Ben Kurchin at the seventh slot, but rebounded with two more set wins to take his match in four, 11-5, 3-11, 11-3, and 11-8.  LaVersa and Shinnick each dropped the opening set of their matches with Juan Fernandez and Alan Darer, but both recovered to win in four sets.

The lone match to go the distance was at the sixth slot, as Ortiz defeated Tim Veit, 8-11, 11-5, 6-11, 11-5, and 11-5.

The Rams finish their regular season with a 9-9 record, and will next be in action on February 14-16, as the team competes at the CSA Team Championship, held in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
